An Insight into Christ's "Holy" Chuch

Christ is not in the head without being in the body. The whole Christ is in the head and in the body. And so He is what His members are (though His members are not necessarily what He is). For if these were not His members, He would not have said to Saul, "Why are you persecuting Me?"
Source: St. Augustine, Treatise 28 on John, in Matins, Lesson iii, for Tuesday of Passion Week.

Christ is in His body as Man. We are united to Christ by grace but are not divine by nature. We participate in Christ's being while not being Christ totally. Hence the Body of Christ is pure and holy, but its individual members may not be.
